5 major ways to promote yourself as a model.

Modeling is another sector of the entertainment industry that’s lucrative but tasking as well. Most aspiring models find the body trimming and weight losing challenging but it’s just one of the sacrifices you have to make to have that perfect body shape.
Though not all aspects of modeling will require one to lose weight example includes face models- i will explain this in my next post. To promote yourself as a new model isn't an easy task but there is always a solution to any problem. Join me on the train as we talk about the basic things you need to do to create a niche for yourself in the modeling industry.

1. Possess the basic documents.

    There are some important documents that should always be with you constantly as you don’t know the moment the documents might be needed. The two most important basic documents are;

- A model portfolio: Some agencies don’t ask for this document but professional agencies insist they look through your portfolio. A portfolio is a document that looks like a photo album a bit because it contains various pictures of yourself with different poses, dress and style of hair. 

Models are encouraged to show their portfolios to potential clients so they can see how photogenic and talented they are in front of the camera.

-  Z- Card: A Z-Card looks more like an official complimentary business card except it is used by models. It contains your name, body statistics, contact information and 3-5 professional photos lined by the side. This is highly recommended by model experts so that you can easily promote yourself on the spot and in a more professional way. 

You might be walking down the street and bump into someone that likes your stature or probably has interest in signing you, the person might demand for your contact details and instead of looking for a piece of paper, you could just hand over a copy of your card to the person.

2. Have the right poses.

    You should endeavor to know the tips and secrets of making a good pose so that you can fit into any available job for you. Mastering the basic tips of posing like bringing your ears forward, opening the mouth slightly to provide a subtle lurry look, twisting your body two-third away from the camera and so many others. 

Another professional tip is learning how to smile with your eyes because it’s the Center of attraction and what captures the interest of your viewers. Check my previous post on how to prepare for a model casting.

3. Use of Social media.

    You should know that social media marketing and promotion is the best way and platform to advertise your goods or services. Sequel to my last posts, i have always emphasized on the use of social media because it enables you to reach a wider audience. You ought to know that scouters from modeling agencies are always on the look out for models so creating an account and using all the influential hash tags on your post wouldn't be a bad idea. 

You could also create an account where you can post your daily activities and avoid flooding your page with so many professional studio shoots because the casting directors will love to see you on a normal day when you are not expecting them.

4. Owning a Website.

   If you are prepared to take your modeling career to a greater height, you should be able to try new things and one of them includes building a website as this will make you look more professional and increase your chance of getting a job or getting signed into a bigger agency. 

 Free web host platforms like wordpress, wix e.t.c will provide you with good resources that you can use to edit a template for a website that will be appealing to your viewers. You should also have beautiful professional pictures and interesting stories that you can always post on your website.

5. Social Interaction.

   The modeling industry is actually where those with soft skills get the bigger deals. You need to familiarize and interact with a lot of people in the industry so that you can always get informations on model castings and other top news surrounding your field.

 Keeping healthy relationship with your top clients and bookers is also nice as there is every tendency that you might be hired when they have any available job. You could also try getting tickets to occasions and gathering that have a lot of people so that you can get in with a stunning look and outgoing personality as you are most likely to meet someone that can give you that opportunity you've been waiting for.
