How to prepare for a model casting.

Preparing for a modeling audition can be a little bit challenging as it requires self-determination and confidence. You need to believe in yourself and try not to have a low esteem . Your confidence and experience matters a lot when going for a casting. Here are a few tips that can help you scale through the audition without stress.

1. Read the instructions and brief from your agent.

It is very necessary and important that you read the brief carefully before attending the audition as this will provide you with the necessary information you need which could help you during the casting. It could also specify the clothes or pictures you need to come with depending on the type of job you are casting for.

2. Endeavor to look clean.

Personal hygiene is very important as a human being and as a model to be precise. It wouldn't be nice as model to go for a casting looking dirty or smelling badly as this can automatically reduce your chances of getting the job. Though 99% of models i have worked with were all clean and maintained good hygiene but it’s still necessary we point the fact. As a girl you are to look neat and sparkling with your hair packed backwards and as a guy you should endeavor you have a nice haircut and well shaved beards before going for the audition.

3. Be professional

As a model, you shouldn't be told that you need to take a standard Polaroid as this is what you are likely to submit at the venue and also ensure you know your statistics off hand with parameters such as height, bust, weight, chest etc.

4. Look natural

Clients and casting directors want to see you look natural without any makeup as this would enable them to know if you are suitable for the job. Even the slightest application of makeup or facial enhancement might be noticed so endeavor to look plain and natural.

5. Dress neat and smart

While going for the casting, you would want to prove the casting directors that you are a professional and you are fit for the job. Unless stated otherwise, i recommend you wear this;

Girls: Black skinny jeans or leggings and a simple black top.

Guys: Skinny jeans , fitted plain tee and clean smart shoes.

6. Wear comfortable high-heeled shoes

Recently, most models walk on runways with flat shoes but it is recommended that you go to a model casting with a comfortable stiletto heels or plain high heeled pumps while guys wear a pair of smart shoes. You should try as much as possible to practice walking on heels so as not to embarrass yourself before your casting directors.

7. Be polite and smile.

After the casting and you realized that you've not done up to your expectation, all you need to do is thank everyone present there, smile and leave. Once you've left the casting venue, it is advised that you report back to your agency in order for them to know you are done and also do a follow up with your client.
