It is widely believed that more
wealth brings happiness but in most cases we find ourselves taking it to the
extreme. Ever since we stepped out of college and started working, the topic on
most minds has always been how to make more money but we need to ask ourselves if its the money we really want or happiness. In this article, we will be discussing about the reasons why we shouldn't be obsessed with money.
1. Purpose of Life.
Excessive
thinking of money could make you lose focus from what you are doing and forget
your purpose of existence. When you become so desperate about making much money,
you become so distracted that you don’t even see that you have talents that can
be so lucrative for you. You should endeavor to avoid thinking about money too
much so it doesn't make you lose focus and distracted in achieving your goals.

2. Health complications.
Been so frugal
about money can affect your chances of getting professional treatment when you
are ill. You probably would be thinking you saved a lot of money by
staying away from the doctor, not knowing that you are actually complicating
issues. Saving money shouldn't be an excuse as to why you shouldn't get the
best treatment when you are not feeling well because “you only live once”. It’s really nice
to question your purchases so you don’t end up buying frivolous items but it shouldn't be to detrimental to your health.

3. Your reputation.
It’s really a
good thing to be a sensible spender among extravagant people but you should be
careful not to take it beyond reasonable extent as this can make you
look cheap among your friends around you. You shouldn't deprive yourself of
basic things such as food just because you want to save. It could
embarrass you among your peers and make some of them lose that respect for you.
Even if you want to save, save wisely but not in an obvious and questionable
manner.
When you've always
got the thought of money on your mind, you tend to deviate from your
normal lifestyle and indulge in activities that are mostly illegal in the quest
of looking for so much money. In most cases you find yourself committing
vices that are not acceptable in the society. Even if we know that money is
very essential in our daily activities, we should be careful not to be so
desperate about it.
5. Psychological effect.
Obsession over money can
affect one mentally if it gets to the extreme. You might end up doing unreasonable things such as speaking to yourself about money when there's obviously no one around you. We should be
careful not to allow the desperation of getting money affect us from
thinking the right way. Instead we should work hard and strive
to achieve your goals amidst all odds. For more tips and consultations send an email to atuokwuharrison@gmail.com . Thanks for reading, please leave a comment and subscribe via email for daily updates.
