How to promote your music as a new musician.

The Internet has created so many platforms and opportunities for people to promote or showcase their talent to the world. The key to succeeding in the music industry is to try new things, learn from others, make unique changes and be consistent. Getting started can

be a little overwhelming and tasking but these strategies will guide you on your path to stardom.

1. Efficient Publicity.
You need to make enough publicity so that everyone can be aware of your work. You need to get your name out to the public by making posters, badges, signboard, and billboard signs if affordable or anything other means you can use to relay your music to the public.

You can also print flyer's and share to people around you especially when you go to clubs or social gathering so that they can all be aware and provide you with morale support. Most times they might not know you are into music but they will definitely be familiar with your name.

2. Connect with music blogs.
Sharing your music with your fans is a very good idea but it shouldn't be restricted to them alone. You need to be able to reach a larger audience by connecting with music blogs that can help you promote your work on their site. It might cost you a little money but it's definitely worth it because it makes you more popular. You also need to make research about the kind of music blogs that work with your genre of music.

3. Use of social media.
This is the most popular and accessible way since we are in the media age and most people use social media application such as; Facebook, twitter, instagram etc. Basically, social media is not a straight-up marketing platform but an avenue for you to stir up genuine relationship and conversations with your fans.

About 70% of your post should be controversial, exciting and intriguing to your fans on social media. It could be stories from your music tour or a photo of you recording your music in the studio or even photo of your audience at your show. This will update your fans on what's going on and foster the cordial relationship.

4. Collaboration with other artistes.
This is a great way to boost your career and also an opportunity for you to get your music in front of new people and also increase your fan base. You can collaborate on any song at all provided it’s the same genre of music you sing. It's advisable you collaborate with an artiste that is well established and has a strong fan base to promote you.

You can also share the song to your fans with the website's download link on each other handles to promote each other as well. Introducing the art of recommendation is also another marketing strategy where you give each other shout-out on your individual pages by sharing each other’s latest track or event. 5. Live music promotion.
Your marketing strategies shouldn't be restricted to online alone as there is every need to build a good relationship with your fans by engaging them in physical interaction. You should try having a face to face interaction with your fans and local community members at the early stage as this will help make the bond stronger and also enable you to know what your fans want exactly.

Organizing a gig within your community where you invite your friends and people around you should be a very good strategy as this would be a great way to make more money and promote yourself. . You can also try working with show organizers to give you the opportunity to perform in their show even if you don’t get paid, it’s still an avenue to showcase your talent. I believe in pursuing the fame first before the money because once you are famous you will definitely make a lot of money.

6. Build your database of contacts.
As you go through all these steps, there are chances that you would meet quite a number of people that would be beneficial to you in the industry. It is advisable to keep good record of their contacts and reach out to them frequently as they will be your first point of call when you need a promotion. Ensure you update your database by keeping track of your contacts and don’t write anyone off because you don’t know the person that can give you the big break you need in the music industry.
